Birthday Benefits

Companies in Singapore do provide benefits on an employee's birthday.

The benefits they provide include:

  • A day off
  • An extra day added to annual leave
  • A gift worth $7-10 e.g. mug, towel
  • $30-50 gift or shopping voucher
  • An announcement to other staff
  • Flowers or chocolate gifts
  • A birthday cake
  • $50 credited on birthday month
  • A card signed by top management

    • HR practitioners advise that some kind of policy should be in place when providing leave benefits. It is also suggested that the any gift or cash exceeding $100 might attract taxes.
