Salary Increase for 2009

With the current economic outlook, what kinds of salary increases are companies here budgeting for 2009?

Some of the HRSINGAPORE^® Community subscribers during our forum discussion, had indicated that they had previously budgeted from between 4-10%. However, with the financial crisis, they intend to lower the increment to 3-5%.

Those who will still give the budgeted increase in salary have stated that they will trim business travel, entertainment, company events and non essential costs.

Still there are those HR practitioners who will not recommend any increment for the year 2009 as it does not look positive and prefer to cut costs and save jobs.
