Urgent Leave Requests

How do Human Resource (HR) departments in Singapore handle requests for Urgent Leave from their employees nowadays?

HR practitioners in the HRSINGAPORE® Forum consider urgent leave as leave applied on the day itself or on very short notice, less than three days perhaps.

Some HRSINGAPORE® Community Subscribers have suggested that companies have a proper policy on such leave matters which will consistently apply approval procedures.

These can include making the Heads of Departments (HODs) responsible for approving urgent leave.

Other HR professionals recommended counseling for those employees who frequently take urgent leave. The counseling session may reveal some underlying causes for the behaviour such as stress or work environment.

HR people also wish employees who take urgent leave make their own arrangments for someone to cover their duties.
